In conjunction with the White House-sponsored Summit on Early Education, the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading has joined practitioners, advocates, policymakers and philanthropists to launch Invest in US — a cross-sector initiative to promote greater investments in the early years.

A Twitterstorm is planned today. Please consider adding your two cents (in 140 characters or less, of course).

This is our chance to spread the word: School readiness is a key strategy for grade-level reading.

What: The #investinus Twitterstorm

When: Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Who: @readingby3rd and YOU

Where: On Twitter using the #investinus and #GLReading hashtags

Why: To help spread the word that the early years and early grade success are linked

In need of inspiration? Consider sending out one of these Tweets:

• Successful parents, healthy readers and school readiness are crucial to the early years and to #GLReading. #investinus

• Did you know: Low-income children have less access to high-quality early care and learning. They also lag in #GLReading. #investinus

• 1 way to encourage #GLReading? Provide parents with the info/tools/supports they need to be their child’s first, best teacher. #investinus

• Early learning gives children a strong start and promotes #GLReading. #investinus

• Achieving #GLReading starts early with children and families. #investinus

• Despite its importance, disparities in access to early learning persist. Help us fill the gaps, a key to #GLReading. #investinus

• If health determinants of early school success were better addressed, more low-income kids would be school-ready. #GLRreading. #investinus

• School readiness is 1 of 3 important community solutions that can move the needle on #GLReading. #investinus
